Body black with a yellow band on posterior margins of the first, second and fourth gastral tergites. This species differs from the other species of the genus in that the first gastral tergite is distinctly longer than wide when viewed from above. Abdomen shining. Paired pits present behind the ocellar area. Mesonotal dorsum with two longitudinal grooves, and one longitudinal groove in the middle of the first gastral tergite. This species nests in straw or reed tubes with mud partitions, and hunts larvae of leaf beetles (Chrysomelidae).
