Pararrhynchium ornatum
(Smith, 1852)
Body color black, with a yellowish brown, thick band on the first and second gastral tergites. Similar to Orancistrocerus drewseni, but the gaster is more shining and the second gastral tergite less thick. Wings purple and shiny. This species nests in bamboo tubes by making cells that are separated with mud partitions. The mother hunts moth larvae, with which she progressively feeds the larvae during their development; she also guards the nest against natural enemies, thus showing a subsocial behavior.
