Body color black, with yellow bands on the first to third gastral tergites. The yellow band on the first tergite is thick and U-shaped. This species nests in bamboo tubes by partitioning cells with mud. It hunts larvae of moths of Pyralidae, Tortricidae, Geometridae, etc. It is divided into two subspecies depending on the region.
