Body black, with yellow markings on clypeus, lower part of inner side of compound eyes, anterior portion of pronotum, and first and second gastral segments. Posterior end of large tegula exceeds that of subtegular plate. This eumenid hunts larvae of small moths, such as Gelechiidae. Another Japanese species of the genus, Allodynerus delphinalis, which has a yellow spot on the sixth tergite, nests in dead grass stems by burrowing pith, thus does not usually utilize nesting traps. Adult females of both species have distinctive mite chambers (acarinaria) on their bodies and harbor specific mites in them.
Host-parasite relationship Symbiotic with the mite Ensliniella asiatica.
