Hoplammophila aemulans
(Kohl, 1901)
Body black, first gastral segment distally and second segment entirely red. This species uses tiny pebbles or wood chips to construct nests in tree cavities or bamboo tubes. It hunts large larvae of notodontid moths as prey, and always stores a single larva in each cell. Sex ratios of adults produced from trap nests are often extremely female-biased.
