Auplopus carbonarius
(Scopoli, 1763)
Females have a hairless, shiny area on the sixth dorsal tergite; males have a yellowish-white band on either side of their face (the two bands not connected). This species builds several vase-shaped cells made of mud in relatively thick bamboo tubes. It is particularly common in forests, but its identification is difficult because of closely related congeneric species.
